About Us

“Transgender” is a word you hear often today, and yet the vast majority of people have no idea of what it actually means - let alone the experiences and issues that transgender people face as one of the most misunderstood, marginalised and discriminated communities in the UK.

Based just outside of London in Thurrock, Essex, Claire’s Transgender Talks aims to help community groups, organisations and businesses to understand Transgender and Non-Binary people - whether they are staff or community members, clients, customers or students - so that you feel comfortable and confident interacting with and supporting us.

Our services include training, speaking, advice and resources - equipping you with the tools and knowledge you need.

Our founder Claire “came out” as transgender in 2016, after a lifetime of suppressing then hesitantly exploring her identity.

Coming out at work, Claire had the opportunity to start delivering talks on Transgender Awareness as part of the Equality & Diversity modules of several courses, which revealed the depth of misunderstanding, and the many misconceptions people had about transgender people.

This, coupled with some less than positive experiences gave her the idea for a social enterprise to increase knowledge and acceptance of transgender people in society. And so “Claire’s Trans Talks” was formed in 2018, aiming to deliver transgender awareness training, resources and advice to organisations & businesses.

Claire had the opportunity to take part in a local School for Social Entrepreneurs course, so she quit work and put her energy into the course and starting her business.

Claire is now proud to be a School for Social Entrepreneurs Fellow, and is enjoying spending time working with organisations to further understanding & acceptance of Transgender and Non-Binary people.
